Tropical Storm Eta

Quick trip down to bring everything inside as we wait to see

what Tropical Storm Eta will do tomorrow.

Too close to take a chance as it could turn into a Hurricane quickly.

Hoping everything goes well and we just get rain.

Hurricane and Storm surge warning issued for the

Florida Keys from Key Largo to Dry Tortugas, including Florida Bay

as Tropical storm Eta is expected to intensify.

We did fine, no damage, just a ton of rain.

Neighbors said we had minor flooding in the streets.

 

Hurricane Dorian

My heart breaks for the Bahamas this Hurricane

will forever change the landscape and I can't image

the what they are going through.

Here is some of the local effects on our area.

We are preparing for a major Hurricane.

No real path to follow as this storm is

very different from ones in the past.

But we will be ready and have cancelled our trip.

The walls are still wet.

We turned on more fans and sprayed a mold killer.

The pile is just so sad

everywhere you look you can see Hurricane Irma's destruction.

Keys are Open for Residents

We just got the all clear. We are at work but hope to close up and start driving.


On the road around 3pm

The sea-grass and debris in the side and backyard is crazy.

We have Havana Jacks pier pieces, I even found a menu.

Found a dock box on my dock only not mine.  I feel so bad for this boat owner

his boat came off the lift and is just hanging from lift.

Only so much we can do tonight.

No power so we need to get the generator running.

Hurricane Irma Update

Sept. 8 ~ Feelings are mixed; worry, hoping I did enough and sad all in one.
               Can't sleep. Watched my camera's on and off all night. Wishing for the best.
               Now more people have left Florida the Hwy's are a mess all the way to GA.

Sept 9 ~ The Hurricane is now closer and winds are picking up.
              People are posting video's from the Bahamas showing the water being sucked out.
              This morning Happy Place is dark, rain and wind. By 3pm video's of the Key's are
               being posted showing the waves and water tearing apart docks and water in the roadways.
               Now checking my camera's every hour. 8 pm it is really crazy windy now and water look
                high but can't tell do to the dark. Trees and Tiki are still up.  10:50 pm is the last video.
               Power is now gone. I want to cry.

We are in Stuart and went to visit friends to help keep our minds off what is happening.

Sept. 10 ~ Confirmation that the Hurricane made landfall in Cudjoe Key. Now we are feeling it
                  here is Stuart. Shop and house are secured and just waiting now. FL Keys News posted
                 on Facebook " City of Marathon - Everything is underwater, I mean everything " That is
                 an awful feeling. By 7 pm the Key's are closed. They said Don't come back until the
                 official okay is given. The video's of the area or heart wrenching.


Sept 11 ~ We saw our community on the news. Hit pause and went frame by frame till we
                 found our house.

We have a roof !

  Sept. 12 ~ Waiting to get in is killing me.

Sept. 13 ~ NOAA now has a current satellite view of Marathon. I see trees are down not sure

                  about the Tiki, may have a tree on it.

Landfall

Sunday, Sept. 10 2017

Hurricane Irma makes landfall in the

Florida Keys as a Category 5.

Key Colony Beach & Marathon were in the north

east eye wall with winds up to 160+mph.

Prep for Hurricane Irma

Johnathan and I left to get stuff out of 

the house and see what we could do to protect " Happy Place ".

We got a call for sand so we stopped at a Home Depot on the way

and we loaded 43 bags and headed south.

We are tired but did what we could to protect the house.

We made it home by 3am

Now for the drive back home.

Brought back the important stuff.
